This smoothie was an accident that was not intended to be a smoothie. Last Sunday morning, my family and I decided to go to breakfast, and the only vegan option on the menu is the oatmeal. I thought it would be a good idea to bring my bananas, flax seed and cinnamon in a bag so I can add them to my bowl at the restaurant. When we arrived, it was so close to lunch time; I decided to order a salad instead. When I came home, I had an idea to take my leftover bag of bananas and freeze them for a future smoothie.
Monday morning has now arrived, and I am in a super creative mood. I opened the freezer to reach for my bananas. I proceed to the Vita-mix blender to add the fruit, and six more super healthy ingredients to wake up my taste buds. When I was finished blending all the ingredients, I poured my smoothie and slurped the finished product. I instantly felt sheer happy bliss in my belly. I have craved this smoothie since making it and have enjoyed every gulp.
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup or handful spinach
1 frozen banana
1/4 tsp maca powder, raw
1 tbs flax seed
1 chai tea bag ( I used Tazo Chai Vanilla Caramel- cut bag open)
1 tbs blueberries ( for added garnish and added flavor).
1.) Add the almond milk and spinach – blend together until smooth.
2.) Add the next four ingredients and blend together until smooth.
3.) Pour into a glass and add blueberries on top.
I love the flavor of the Tazo Chai Vanilla Caramel tea added to the smoothie. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. Cheers!
