I love bananas. They make it easy to create sweet and healthy meals or desserts. So, here is the first recipe in a series of Super Fruit Smoothies that I will be posting weekly. I added a one, two, three punch ingredient by adding the maca root. Are you ready to learn some quick facts about the maca? Maca root comes from the Andean societies of Peru, as a source of nutrition and healing properties for thousands of years. The reason why this smoothie is so super is the alkaloids present in the maca is known to nourish the endocrine system. I have attached information from Please click on the following site below for more information on endocrine system http://www.webmd.com/diabetes/endocrine-system-disorders. The maca adds a nice malt flavor to your smoothie, but make sure you purchase the raw and organic type. I use the brand Navitas Naturals that you can find at Whole Foods, Sprouts and Amazon. This smoothie is so easy and naturally sweet you might not need to add the medjool dates. I also love the fact that you can find bananas anytime of year, so this smoothie can be made during any season
- 1 cup frozen banana
- 2 dates
- ½ cup ice cubes
- 1 teaspoon maca root
- Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Pour in your favorite glass and relish the goodness.
